Sunshine Skyway Bridge

We saw Greta VanSusteren on TV yesterday and we noticed the background, she was at the PIER in St. Petersburg. Since my husband and I have nothing to do for the day, we decided to visit St. Petersburg and have a good lunch at The PIER. That's the main reason though and we arrived after more than an hour drive. We dine in at Columbia Restaurant which is the oldest restaurant in Florida. We are supposed to roam the downtown area but, the sky was already getting dark so we decided to drive home passing another route avoiding the traffic in Tampa.We passed this gorgeous artistic bridge which has a France-inspired design. Rated as #3 "Top 10 Bridges" in the World by Travel Channel and is considered as the "flag bridge" of Florida. Honestly, I love to visit places with historical significance such as this Sunshine Skyway Bridge. I know, the sunshine did not come up at this time, right? (",)This picture would have been nice in a fine day and we could have enjoyed parking in the Sunshine Skyway Fishing Pier across it. We decided to just go home and come back next time, it's only an hour and thirty minutes travel from our place to St. Petersburg anyway.Sunshine Skyway Bridge is constructed of steel and concrete. There are 21 steel cables clad in nine-inch steel tubes along the center line of the bridge which supports the structure. This bridge was designed by the Figg & Muller Engineering Group, and built by the American Bridge Company. Now we know, right?

Honestly? We went to St. Petersburg yesterday for two reasons: have lunch in the oldest restaurant in Florida and to look at the property in the downtown area.
