Sunset by the Front Beach

The Pier by the Harbor in Ocean Springs is the best place to see and capture the beauty of the sunset. We went there today after a family get-together dinner by Aunt Jenny's Restaurant. There were activities at the Front Beach sort of marathon because the participants were in their sports wear with number tags. The side of the streets were full of parked cars and there were traffic enforcers present as well. We went to the Pier instead. It is located at the end of Front Beach. We truly enjoyed the view. It is located at the end of Front Beach. There were people at the Pier but, not too many compared at the Fort Maurepas area. It's been two years since I was here, and I missed this place. Today, I had a great time taking some photos of the sunset.

We went home before the sun sets on the horizon. I was in daze I think. I said Happy Birthday to my sis-in-law and hug her then; it's funny that I also said happy birthday to my other sister-in-law LOL. Instead of saying goodbye, I said happy birthday and I did not take it back. I don't know if she heard me but, she seemed not to noticed it, LOL.

I said goodbye to the little man and beg for a kiss but he hesitated and I told him to give me a hug instead which he complied with gusto.
I remember that the last time we were here (together as family) was when Sandy (the late father-in-law) wanted to go fishing. Everyone came and went fishing right here by the Pier. That special moment happened in the first quarter of 2010. He died in July, two days before my birthday.

Rest Area : The Mississippi Welcome Center

I love road trips. I do not know how many times I said that in my blog but, that's the truth. I love going to places and road trips are the best way to do it. Last week, one family member who visited us from Spain went back and we tried to catch her flight in Mobile , Alabama.
As to why? It's a long story that you won't be interested to hear. It was a whirlwind situation in fact, her flight was at 11:00 AM and we arrived at the airport at 10:35AM. I know right? Well, the luck is on her side! The plane was delayed and the ticketing agent was able to booked her on the same flight. She's on a body pass and guess what? She was able to get in and when she arrived Atlanta, Georgia she got the first class seat too and that's all the way to Spain. Whewww!

Hubby and I went back home and after few minutes of driving, we stopped at the rest area. This is the Welcome Center in Mississippi along Hwy 110. I like this place because they offer free refreshments. At that time, I didn't get any. I just went at the front and took some photos of the tree sculpture.

You see, a lot of trees along the gulf coast were uprooted and damaged during Hurricane Katrina and some were still standing tall minus the leaves of course. There were so many oak trees dead. Some artist came to the gulf coast and devoted their skills , time and money to preserve the historic trees. This tree is one of them and you can see it when you visit the Welcome Center in Mississippi.
If you want to see more of the tree sculptures, visit the Beach Boulevard along the Gulf coast of Mississippi and you will surely find the sight of them.

Music Inspires

Music inspires me especially when I'm sad and lonely. I just play my guitar or just messing with the piano using the iPad app. Doing those activities help me forget the things that worries me. I remember when I was in high school, I love to compose songs. The idea of having an instrument that helps me compose a song so easily comes to my mind after watching a musical film. I was a dreamer you know? As I grow older and even though my interest has detoured to another direction, I am still fascinated to own any technical software such as Push.

Confession Time

We are now living in Mississippi ... for good. The big move happens so fast. I was offline from blogging for so many weeks. The truth? I confess that I did not miss blogging at all. It feels weird. I love blogging and I love sharing anything under the sun. Could this be the moment that my blogging activities cease for good? Only time can tell. In the meantime, here is a #selfie that I took while we were at #GoldenNugget in Biloxi.

Bay Bridge in Biloxi

The moment we drove on the Bay Bridge in Biloxi, I realized right then that I missed this place after all. The last time I was here was a year ago. I appreciate the beauty it beholds from sunrise to sunset and ... the beach view was totally glorious. I am not a beach person by the way. I hid from the sunshine and the scorching heat hahaha. I probably would be hanging out by the beach when I own my jet ski ... pretty soon :-)
sunset by the Bay Bridge
Last Friday, I was with Erin and we walked on the bridge. Yes, that bridge! It was a nice evening and since it was cool, we hang out by the beach first. I took some pictures which I did all the time whenever I hang out here. We started at 6 PM and Hubby picked us up at the end of the bridge by the Golden Nugget casino by 8 PM.

Why Is Lighting Important For Your Home Sweet Home?

When many people renovate, they spend a lot of time thinking about paint colours, textures of bench top surfaces, tile designs and more. But none of these things will look as good as they can without good lighting. Having adequate illumination and lighting that is well positioned will maximize the impact of good design, especially when lighting is used to enhance highlights like paintings, plants and fine furnishings. Good lighting will also improve your outdoor area and help make an inviting space to share with friends. Security lighting is another important consideration helping to keep away unwanted thieves. You can’t beat natural light and skylights and windows should be used where possible. For inspirational use of design to create light check out this website .

Task Lighting
Task lighting, like its name suggests, is lighting that is placed to facilitate tasks around the home, things like preparing dinner and applying your makeup at the vanity. Task lighting is really important to maximise the utility of the functional areas in your home. It’s a good idea to add dimmer switches to task lights so that you can tone down the brightness when it’s not needed, like when you are enjoying a meal at the breakfast bar. Standing lamps can work well to provide task lighting to targeted areas, things like lamps on bedside tables for reading.

Lighting for Mood
Light makes us feel good. Homes with poor light can appear gloomy and even depressing. Having lots of light in your home will really lift the mood. While windows and skylights are wonderful, lighting is still needed for overcast days and also evenings. Light is invigorating, energising and uplifting. Make sure your home has plenty of it.
Lighting will have an effect on the colours in your home. Light that reflects from walls and other surfaces helps soften the colour of walls and fixtures.
Directional Lights
Lighting can be used to illuminate the whole room or can highlight certain elements or features of the room. Track lighting is a good example of this. Track lighting that is hung from the ceiling can be adjusted as required to the make the most of your room’s design highpoints, things like paintings or floral arrangements.
Lighting creates the illusion of space. Natural lighting will always open up a room, but where this isn’t available you should carefully consider the use of artificial light to add the feeling of space. Dark rooms can look and feel cramped. Ceiling lights, wall lights and lamps can all be added to lighten up a room and make it feel more spacious.
Outdoor Lighting
Lights added to the garden can really enhance the area. Special focus lights on beautiful trees, water features or other highlights can be used to wonderful effect. If you have an outdoor cooking and eating area you will need to add some task lights as well as atmospheric lighting. Outdoor lighting can also be an important security measure. Installing lights that turn on in response to movement is a very effective deterrent to opportunistic thieves. Do you have any great lighting ideas? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

DIY Projects for Men: Basic Welding to Try at Home

There’s no need to be intimidated by at-home welding, because, these days, with the correct welding supplies , and knowledge of safety procedures, it’s simple and satisfying to try some DIY welding projects at home. A welder will find that these skills come in very handy for any number of odd jobs, particularly repairs around the house or car. A welder can also flex his creative muscles, using the skill of welding to create objects of beauty and style to compliment the home. In this article, you will learn how to create a beautiful coffee table using basic welding skills.

All the tools needed for this project are widely available at your local hardware, and you can expect the process to take about 10 hours, including cutting your pieces of steel to the correct length.
You will need:
* Welding table
* Metal grinder, about 13cm
* Reciprocating saw or chop saw
* 2 squares – one large standard square and one small carpenter’s square
* C-clamps, approximately three to be used to clamp project pieces to the welding table
* Weldcorp Gasless MIG Welder
* Welding helmet with lens shade and safety glasses. Safety is top priority when using welding tools. * Cigweld 0.6mm x 0.8kg Solid MIG Welding Wire
* Bending jig
* 1”-1.4” X 1/8” in thick square tubing cut to three different lengths:
- 4 pieces – 16” in length to be used as legs
- 3 pieces – 44” in length to serve as the top
- 2 pieces 17” in length for end pieces
* 5/16” solid steel rod for trim pieces. You can choose your own trim length depending on what you like, or you can also purchase decorative trim pieces. Some companies can also make trim pieces to order.

Before you begin, be sure to check that you have all the materials listed. You may need to purchase some items online, or ask any employees at your local hardware store. Take particular care in ensuring that you have all safety gear as required.

1. Cut the tubing to the specified lengths above. Check the reference chart for your welder, as it needs to be set on the correct settings for the thickness of the steel you will be welding. Be sure to test your settings by welding on a piece of offcut steel before you begin.

2. Using one of your 17” long end pieces, and one of the 16” long legs, align these two components in a 90 degree angle. Check that your angle is accurate using your big square. Then, using the C-clamps, clamp the two pieces to your welding table. Line up the leg flush with what will be the top of the end piece, making sure that the open end of the leg is showing. Repeat this process on the other side of the end pieces for the other leg, and repeat the whole process to create the other end piece of the coffee table.

3. With the feet pointing up, put one of your end pieces on the ground. To hold it upright you can attach a piece of scrap angle iron with a C-clamp, similar to how a bicycle stand works. Place the large square on the ground, and line up along the outside of one of the long tabletop sides and the end piece to ensure a 90-degree angle. Use the carpenter’s square to ensure a 90-degree angle between the leg and the long table top side piece. Set the end piece in place by readjusting the C-clamp. Tack weld the inside of the angle only. Repeat this process on the other side of the end piece with a second long tabletop side member. Right now, you only need to tack weld the inside angle. After this, lay your third long tabletop member in between the two you have already welded, measure to ensure that it is central, and tack weld the bottom (which is facing up). Repeat these steps for the opposite side.

4. Turn the table over so that it is standing upright, and finish weld the top of the table where the long tabletop side pieces meet the end pieces.

5. Turn the table over again so that the legs are facing upwards towards you, and finish weld the seams on the bottom of the coffee table, where you tack welded in step 3.

6. At this stage you need to finish weld the seams on the inside of the joints that you have not yet welded. To do this, you will need to move the table around, and you can use C-clamps to help you with this. Be sure to attach the welder’s work clamp after each time you move the coffee table and before you begin welding.

7. Before you add any trim pieces to your table, you need to smooth the welds with the grinder. The welds will be unreachable after the trim pieces are attaching. Make sure you wear safety glasses with side shields when you are grinding, and be careful as there will be sparks from the grinding process that can potentially ignite flammable materials.

8. After you have grinded and smoothed your welds, you can tack weld the inside of the brackets of your trim pieces. These inside welds will not show from the outside of the table.

9. Now your frame is complete. Before attaching your tabletop, it is a good idea to clean the entire table (including the tabletop you have chosen) with a cleaning solvent to remove machining oils. You can now paint your frame with a good quality, semi-flat paint in the colour of your choice.

10. Your tabletop can be made of any material you like: wood, slate, glass, tile etc. You should secure the tabletop with adhesive, flanges, or bolts drilled through the frame and into the tabletop. Depending on what material your tabletop is, you will need to determine the most secure way to attach it to your frame.

Once you have completed all of these steps, you will have a beautiful and entirely unique piece of furniture standing before you!

I am Loving Instagram

Yes, I am loving Instagram. For the last few months, I find myself hooked with Instagram app. At first, I set my profile to private but, as the days go by, I decided to share my photos to the public. The experience was inspiring especially when strangers sent a heart on my photo posts. To give a heart in return is easy too. I also observed that there are fake accounts in Instagram too. It is obvious and anyone could tell. Even though they follow my profile, I ignore their presence anyway. After all, they are bogus! Do you have Instagram? Please follow me at . I will see you there.
