5 Basic Truck Maintenance Tips

Whether you drive a small delivery truck or a mammoth eighteen wheeler, performing maintenance on your vehicle should be high on your list of priorities. After all, if you own the truck, then it’s essentially your primary business partner and if you drive for a freight or trucking company, then your truck is like your colleague.

Undergoing a thorough maintenance check and performing the basic maintenance procedures regularly will save you time and money in the long run by keeping the truck in good condition.

In a report issued by the National Truck Accident Research Centre in 2013, five percent of crashes were caused by mechanical failure. When you consider the number of trucks on the road at any one time, those statistics are startling.

Here is our list of the 5 most important maintenance checks to carry out on a regular basis:

Cleaning Your Truck

Long haul trucks are constantly exposed to severe conditions, including unimaginable road surfaces ranging from flood waters to hundreds of kilometres of dust and gravel to narrow bridges and steep inclines. That’s why we are listing truck cleaning as the number one maintenance tip. You can do the cleaning yourself or have a professional company like AMC Melbourne   perform a total clean for you.

Many of the lines and couplings from the cabin to the trailer are located along the backbone, so a clean vehicle makes it easier to spot faults, tears, or inconsistencies along the inner core. Washing off any road debris and dirt will make your business partner look as it should and will help ensure the longevity of the paintwork.

Don’t Forget Oils and Filters

Checking the basics like oil, batteries and coolant is a no-brainer, but its important to remember that the transmission oil and filter should be changed regularly, depending on how much work and how many kilometres the truck has been subjected to.

Check the Electrical System Regularly

Regularly checking the electrical system can save your life and possibly someone else’s. Start at the front of the cabin and work your way around the truck, systematically checking every light, warning device and electronic signal. Once again, this regular maintenance check may be time consuming but it means that you and the other people on the road are a lot safer because of it.

Standard Tyre Checking

Once your truck has had a thorough cleaning, give them a standard safety check. This should include pressure, tread, and sidewall condition, making sure you pay extra attention looking for splits and tears that may not be immediately visible. For added security, roll the truck forward enough that a different side of the tyres is visible.

Remove Any Loose Items

Check the cabin for loose items that can become missiles in an emergency. Bin anything that’s not necessary and safely secure anything important. Be sure to always have a bottle of filtered water in the cabin as well as two or three protein bars in case you get stuck somewhere for more than a couple of hours.

A regular maintenance check not only saves you money it also saves time in the long run. Think about it: Wouldn’t you prefer to change a faulty tail light globe in the comfort of your own surroundings than in the middle of the desert?

Top 8 Tips to Beat Car Sickness in a Taxi Cab

Car sickness can get the best of anyone at anytime. Riding in a taxi cab in Los Angeles can especially leave a rider feeling woozy. Sitting in the back seat can intensify the feelings of car sickness, but when it comes to a cab, you don’t have a choice but to sit in the back. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to help prevent motion sickness. Some of the top tips for any rider include the following:

 photo Cab-Service-Los-Angeles.jpg
1. Roll the window down. Some passengers get sick from the smell of leather seats, while others get nauseous from the lack of fresh air. Either way, rolling down the window can provide a viable remedy.

2. Eat something before getting in the cab. An empty stomach can make you feel sick even faster.

3. Have club soda, water, or beverages that contain electrolytes handy. Bringing a drink with you for the ride can help you curb an upset stomach on the spot.

4. Consume ginger or take a ginger supplement an hour before your trip. From ginger tea to crystallized ginger slices, there are a number of ways to indulge in ginger before you call a cab.

5. Take an over-the-counter antihistamine, such as Dramamine or Benadryl, about an hour before you call the cab.

6. Focus on a fixed point, such as the dashboard or a distant point in the horizon.

7. If there is a television in the cab, mute the volume. This will help to settle your mind.

8. If you can’t avoid vomiting, ask the cab driver to pull over. There is nothing quite like the wrath of a cab driver after you have vomited in their source of income. Don’t be embarrassed to ask them to pull over. The driver will be grateful you did.

Car sickness is caused by an abnormality between the way your brain and inner ear perceive motion. Following some of the tips above should be able to help reduce the problem. Choosing a trusted cab company can ensure that you have a reliable taxi cab in Los Angeles that can get you safely and comfortably to your destination.

Buick Enclave is my Dream Car

The husband and I love Buick and Buick Enclave is my dream car. We currently own a 2002 Buick Rendezvous which is a crossover vehicle. We have this car for 3 years now and so far, we are impressed for it is comfortable like a sedan and a minivan combined in one. A great car I should say because it has lots of room with leather interior and has a power sunroof. It also has an alloy wheels, rear bucket seating, and 3rd row seating with rear power lift gate and yeah, if space you want, this car is perfect. Hubby and I talk about planning to buy a new car and we agreed on having the Buick Enclave this time considering it has all these features.
The Buick's Enclave has three rows of seats with seating that can accommodate seven people and yeah, very spacious. We rented Buick Enclave for a week while we made a road trip from Florida to Mississippi and we had a comfortable travel experience back and forth. The road dynamic is great and impressive! The suspension is very nice and tight and even if we've driven it on rough roads, we didn't feel a thing but, smooth ride. If it is power you need, this is it.
For long road trip, Buick's Enclave is perfect for a comfortable ride. The seat feels like I am sitting on a recliner at home. I also noticed a great feature which is the second-row bucket seats slide forward and back while the second and third can be fold under to provide extra cargo room. We never run out for extra room in that travel.

One of the most amazing features is the driver and front passenger's seat for it features heated and cooled seats. We find it comfortable and a great feature especially when we travel on a cold rainy nights, the heated seats are just awesome. If you are looking for a luxury SUV, Buick Enclave is one of the best. To know more about the Buick's Enclave, feel free to visit Buick Enclave Kansas City and check out this car.

Moreover, the Buick Enclave has a navigation system which we used on that trip and as long as there is a satellite, we did find our way. It also has the Bose 10-speaker stereo which are "must-haves" feature when we travel. The Enclave is a 3.6-liter engine and it is a V-6 with 288 horsepower which is perfect for this seven to eight seater vehicle.

For safety and reliability, Buick Enclave has a Side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags for all three rows of seats. Though this is a sponsored post, all opinions and views are based from my experience and my own.

Hummers are Sexy Looking

Aside from Buick Enclave, Hummers look good on the road and I just can't help myself but, love the sight of it... so sexy and smart-looking. Though they do not make Hummers anymore, this SUV is still very popular. A 2007 Hummer H2 with 25,600 mi is priced at 33,999, still very expensive.
We went to Walgreens and saw this Hummer Limousine park outside. I was curious about the inside of this limo so, I googled it and I found this:
Wow! No wonder that this Hummer Limo is popular for prom nights and parties. It's like a new world inside, don't you think?

His Rendezvous

My husband loves our Rendezvous. As for me, I keep dreaming to have a Hummer but, I am procrastinating with my driver's license. Anyway, since Hummer is not good for gas mileage so; I was checking for the new version of Rendezvous instead. To my surprise, the Buick Enclave is way too expensive than my first choice. I want an SUV type coz I am fascinated with big cars, no sports car please :-) I know that Lamborghini is an expensive sports car but, I can't ride a $500K used car..wohooo! As if my world is spinning if I sit so low. Anyway, the adrenalin of driving so fast, not my world too LOL!

Liability Insurance

In the blink of an eye you could be involved in an automobile accident. That's why it is important to have motor liability insurance on your vehicle. Even if the accident was not your fault, you can still be taken to court. If the court does not agree with you, then you would have to pay the damages and injuries of the other person involved in the accident. This could get very expensive if you do not have liability insurance.

If your automobile does have liability coverage, your company will be responsible for paying the damages on the other car. Your insurance rates will probably go up. That would be a lot easier to deal with than a lawsuit that you would have to pay out of your own pocket. Most liability policies have limits. This is the total amount of money that the insurance company will pay out to cover you.

Usually the higher rate you pay on your liability policy, it will cost you more. So you must think about how much insurance protection you actually need and how much you can afford. There are a couple of different types of liability insurance such as single limit and split limit. When purchasing liability insurance you should work with a professional insurance agent who can help you determine what kind of policy you should buy. One other thing, most states require you to carry at least liability insurance. If you are involved in an accident and are driving without any insurance, you will be in serious trouble.

Hyundai Genesis

Do you live somewhere in Delray, Wellington, Coconut Creek and Boynton Beach? You are so lucky because Palm Beach Hyundai Dealer is just nearby. Two months ago, my husband and I were looking for used cars to buy in exchange of the bad condition van that we purchased recently. At that time, we really don't have any idea which make we want to buy. So, we just tour around Orlando to find the car that we can afford to buy.Doing that, we saw the 2012 Hyundai Genesis and we are just in awe with great admiration for it's interior feature. It has leather seats with cozy design inside thus, it exudes an upscale feel indeed. Much as we wanted this car, it was beyond our budget.
