Atlantis Marina

This is the map of the Atlantis Marina. I took this photo while we were heading towards the Ferry Boat terminal. The Marina has restaurants, souvenir shops, photo center, ice cream parlor, coffee shop and more. It is a nice, clean and beautiful place near the Atlantis resort and waterpark.

There is a ticket center here and a surf shop. Most of the people that we saw are tourists from the cruise ships. It was in the afternoon and so far, the place is safe and the locals are very friendly.

If there is a chance to visit Bahamas again, I would stay here in Atlantis and explore the beaches more as well as the nearby islands.

Atlantis in Bahamas

Nassau is one of the itineraries when we cruise to Bahamas via Norwegian Sky, a Freestyle Cruising of NCL. I took the photo below while hubby and I were at the Marina Village in Atlantis. We already visited the shopping area of Atlantis and during this time, we just exploring the business establishments located at the Marina.

After we explore some areas inside the Atlantis and at the Marina, we decided to go back to the Port of Nassau via ferry boat. You should try it because it is fun. The ride is amazing, the fare is only $3/person and the scenic view is in 360 degrees gorgeous.

I took the photo above while we were on the ferry boat ride. It was a beautiful day and the water is so calm and so blue. It was a short ferry ride back to the Port of Nassau.

Festival Place at the Port of Nassau

I was browsing some photos in my PC today and saw these in the Bahamas album. I remember when we arrived Nassau via Norwegian Sky Cruise ship. It was almost sunset so; the 360 degrees view from the 11th deck was truly marvelous. I was thrilled to see the Bahamian architectural design and colorful building of Festival Place. The Port of Nassau is beautiful, clean and the water is crystal clear.

Hubby and I wanted to explore the Atlantis which we saw from the top deck but, since it was already late, we decided to stay on board and just go there the next day. Before dinner, we walk to the Festival Place and explore the nearby shops outside the port. We head back to the Festival Place, took pictures and back to the ship enjoying the hot tub and the jacuzzi on the top deck. The Entertainment crew performed a fabulous musical show plus other interesting activities so; we watched the major shows on board and had a fine dining dinner.

Inside the vibrant Festival Place was this sign on the bulletin board. Festival Place has an information center where tourist can pick up pamphlets of tourist distination in Nassau. When we went to Paradise Island, we rode the van and paid $5/person. When we went back to the Port, we took the ferry boat ride located nearby the Marina Village in Atlantis. Surprisingly, the fare was only $3/person and it was more enjoyable because the view was fantastic and the scenic view was awesome.

Anyway, here are some photos inside the Festival Place. The Bahamian culture and colourful products are visible everywhere. The people are friendly and I also noticed that some cruise ship employees on their day off came here and used the WiFi connection. It was free in fact, I was able to use it as well.

I took the photo below in one of the corners inside Festival Place. There were gigantic masks display inside ( part of their tradition and culture) because Nassau, Bahamas has the largest Junkanoo Parade. Junkanoo is a street parade with music happens in many places across The Bahamas. They have the street parades on December 26 and New Year's Day. There are also Junkanoo parades in Miami in June and Key West in October. I wish to see those parades in the future.

Festival Place has many small souvenir shops like the picture below. By this time, most of the shops were closed including the souvenir shops outside the Port. It was dinner time on board so; we head back to the ship.

NCL's Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship

I took a picture of Norwegian Sky Cruise ship when hubby and I routed AIA in Miami last week. We went to a 4-day cruise to Bahamas last September and we are planning to have another cruise escapade soon. There is so much to explore in Bahamas and we only visited three islands Freeport, Great Stirrup and Nassau.

Today, I saw a great deal offer for a last minute cruising for $169/person for 4 days. The port of call is Miami and whoaaa, that's really affordable huh? Well, on our next cruise, we would love to have Port Canaveral as our port of call. Just 20 minutes away from our home which is very convenient.

Treasure Bay at Lucaya Bahamas

I must admit that living in Mississippi is pretty laid-back. We work hard and have time with family and friends. Weekends are always fun and it involves the family and friends as well. A lot of people have pontoon boats or speed boats so; fishing and boating are normal activities along the Gulfcoast of Mississippi. I miss it sometimes.There are many casinos and hotels along Mississippi Gulfcoast and one of them is Treasure Bay. The original Treasure Bay was damage during the Hurricane Katrina in 2005 so; they moved across the streets. We played in their casino but, I mostly enjoyed the food in their buffet.

Now, when we cruise to Bahamas, we checked out Lucaya area in Freeport. When we saw the sister company of Treasure Bay, it was a good feeling. The logo is the same and we were reminded of our lives in Mississippi after all, I work in the casino myself. My husband played the slot machines a little bit and he won. It was really fun to see the Treasure Bay again especially seeing the casino in another country. It was amazing!

Room in Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship

I saw this photo while browsing the folders of my photo album and thought of sharing you the room that we had when we cruise to Bahamas on board the Norwegian Sky. It was tiny but for me, it was cozy and spacious after all, we only use the room to rest and sleep for the night. Most of the waking hours were spent exploring the Bahamas or wandering the amenities in the ship.The room was cute with a desk on the left which served as an office area. The room has a good size closet, fridge, microwave, iron and ironboard, safety deposit box and the bathroom is located on the right. It was a decent space and has a vanity. Our room is very comfortable. Next time, we will try a balcony room.

Freeport Harbour Grand Bahama Island

This picture was taken in October of last year when we went for a Bahamas Cruising. This is in Freeport Harbour in Grand Bahama Island, the first of the 3 islands that we visited. Freeport is a city and has grown to become the second most populous city in the Bahamas. When we arrived the harbour, we went to the terminal to find a transportation to Treasure Bay Casino and Port Lucaya Marketplace. As a tourist, there is nothing to worry about paying too much fare because the rate is printed on the brochure and the information board. Anyway, the fare on the van is $5 per person each way. From the harbour, 16 of us rode in the van and dropped us all in the casino. Hubby and I played in the slot machines in the casino and went to the marketplace as well as explore the Port Lucaya Marina. We convene in the casino lobby after 5 hours then, head back to the harbour to our cruise ship. It was fun!

Cruising to Bahamas at Affordable Price

Cruising is an expensive vacation plan and I thought it was; until I discovered that one can enjoy few days of cruising to Bahamas in less than $500. Guests can eat the delicious food in their hearts content. That's what we did!

Every hour has activities especially when the ship is sailing to its destination. In the evening, there was always an amazing production show which hubby and I attended. There's singing, dancing, Broadway shows and comedy shows throughout the cruise.

When we arrived Freeport, we took a van which cost $5 a person each way. We went to Port Lucaya Marketplace and take our time enjoying the gorgeous beach. Nassau is the best for me because I went shopping inside Atlantis and we hang out at the Marina. We even take a ferry boat ride for $3 a person. It was affordable isn't it?

Internet Connection while on the Cruise

When I booked our cruise to Bahamas, it dawned on me that I can't use the Internet at cheaper price. I worked online so; 4 days of using my USB connect at International rate could be very expensive. But, I brought my USB connect for emergency use. I also have my handy netbook and laptop and decided to turn off my smart phone once we sail away from Miami.We are on board the freestyle Norwegian Sky cruise ship, an NCL company. I inquired about their Internet connection and here's the pricing plan:

Plan 1: 60 minutes, it's $24
Plan 2: 30 minutes, $16.50
Plan 3: Pay as you go for $0.75/minute

It's not bad at all plus, a one time activation fee of $3.95. So, I signed up for plan 1. I used my laptop and there's few location on the ship where WiFi is accessible (Decks 6,7 and 11 only). I used my time wisely like checking my emails and it was a stress free log in. I can log out anytime and save my minutes for my next usage.

Anyway, the above picture is Festival Place at Nassau Port in Bahamas. If you need more time to use the Internet, this area has Wi-Fi and the good news? You can use it for FREE and it's really fast! I have seen so many tourists take advantage of the FREE Wi-Fi connection at Festival Place. You can even use Skype with no problem at all. If you visit other resorts in the area, they have Wi-Fi too and free access for the public. Now, you shouldn't be worry. Enjoy your cruising.

Inside the Festival Place at Nassau Bahamas

We were excited when we arrived early in Nassau, Bahamas that day. On board the Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship, I took these pictures on the 5th deck watching the activities of people at the port area. It was a glorious day and I found out that in terms of land area, Nassau (79.9 s mi) is smaller than Camiguin Island (91.9 sq mi) in the Philippines! The 360 scenic view at the Port of Nassau was truly gorgeous and breathtaking. The huge building at the far end is the world class and luxury resort known as Atlantis.The colorful Bahamian building that you see here is the Festival Place at the Port of Nassau. This is the welcome center where every questions of the tourists will be answered with the help of the travel guide booklet provided at the information area.
The place is clean and every corner shows the Bahamian culture through their decoration and accessories.
There were stalls displaying various Bahamian products which are very affordable.
I saw this space at the heart of Festival Place, looks like a stage with musical instruments on it decorated in happy and colorful Bahamian decors. Tourists stopped by and took a picture for souvenirs. On this spot, tourists and Filipino employees from the ship gathered here to take advantage of the FREE WiFi connection. I used it and the speed was pretty fast!
This information board is truly the best! Tourists will know the rates to a certain destination in the island of Nassau. We took the van to Paradise Island for $4 each, not bad huh? On our way back, we took the boat ride for $3/person.
There were affordable food display inside the Festival Place but, their customers were mostly locals. There is a bathroom and my husband told me it was very clean.
I would love to come to Nassau again and explore another destination of this island. If you think the WiFi rate on the ship is ridiculous, this place is heaven for providing a FREE Wifi for everyone.

On Board the Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Sky has incredible dining accommodation for their guests and it's called Freestyle Dining. They have Complimentary Dining where guests can access the two main dining areas: Garden Cafe' and Great Outdoor. Both dining areas are self-service buffets and the foods are great. You will not starve when you cruise in Norwegian Sky and you do not sit with the same people all throughout the cruising days. The other cruise lines, you need to select the time when you eat and sit with the same people (grinning). Aside from the buffets, Norwegian Sky offers their guests the room service with no extra fee as long as you order from 5AM to midnight. The food is free and guest can have the made-to-order food. That is awesome right? Well, you might as well give an extra tip to the server even though the tip was included in your ticket. That will be your two cents! The pictures here were taken on the Deck 11 mid section where most people love to hang out. Richard Matic, the Cruise Director from the Philippines was holding the microphone on stage welcoming the guests on the first day during the cruise. At this time, everyone is ready to cruise to Bahamas. This cruise ship is registered in the Port of Bahamas, built in Germany, launched in 1996 and in service since 1999 under Norwegian Cruise Line. Busy guests huh? This deck has the food, the pool, Jacuzzis, play area and the band plays here as well where I enjoyed the Caribbean music. Here are some guests playing while waiting for the ship to sail away.Are you a heavy drinker? That is not included in your ticket so; you can still drink at your expense and it's expensive. Here's the bar services in this cruise: Atrium, Breaker's, Captain Cook's, Champ's, Coffee Bar, Dazzle's Nightclub, Great Outdoor, Longboard, Outrigger lounge, Plantation Club, and Sky Club Casino. Well, they are located in Decks 6, 7, 11, and 12. Don't get drunk or else when you wake up, your bill will be up on the ceiling, LOL!

On Board The Norwegian Sky

First Day of the Cruise was truly fun especially for me because it was my first time. This is the Deck 11, the location of the poolside, Garden Buffet, Great Outdoor, Breaker's Bar, Longboard Bar, Outrigger Lounge, Fitness Center, Jacuzzis, Mandara Spa and Salon, Sauna and Steam Room and II Adagio Fine Dining. During this time, we are all checking the areas of the ship and find our way to the Garden Cafe' to eat.We were acquainted to the other guests and most of them are seasoned cruisers. They said that this Freestyle Cruising is the best. One: Norwegian has complimentary dining and that would mean: Guests can eat any time and anywhere to the main dining rooms, casual cafes', self-service buffets, or avail the room service and guests can have the "made-to-order" food available from 5AM to midnight, all for FREE! That is amazing! Guests do not have to pick the time when to eat and of course, you do not have to sit with the same people over and over again! During dining, the dress code is not strict even if you choose the fine dining. Resorts casual and shorts are allowed in all dining areas and venues but, wear your shoes and shirts though. Most of the guests are wearing formal dress in the fine dining, I suggest you have to wear that too. The ambiance is cozy and elegant, you might as well wear a formal attire.
In all honesty, you will never get hungry in a freestyle dining cruises of NCL. If in case you are hungry for food after midnight, you can have the room service and they charge only less than $4 and the food is FREE. Now, that will cost you money in other cruise ship.
The picture above is the Miami city. We sail away at exactly 5PM and the party continues at the poolside for the BBQ! Actually, the activities on the cruise ship started at 11:30AM while the ship was still embarking the guests. There were Sudoku and Crosswords at the Library, Basketball Open Play, Live Music at the Atrium, Kid's Corner is open too, Golf Driving Range for golf enthusiasts, live music at the poolside where we frequent. Guests were just checking really what's ahead of this cruising. Some attended the sky ship tour and listen to the shore excursion presentation. As for us, we just took a table on the Deck 11, eat and mingle with people. It was really interesting and fun.By 4:30 PM, everyone had to proceed to the Assembly Station for Mandatory Life Boat Drill. Our key card has a G name on it and that means we have to find the Station G. I noticed that guests were not taking the drill seriously. It took them a long time to gather the guests to their respective stations. It reminds me the situation of TITANIC where people wanted to be the first on the life boat. Since, this is only a drill few are paying attention. Well, I observe that on the plane too. Anyway, public areas were close and all guests were accounted for at the Assembly Station. If something happens, this life boat above us will be our refuge and it's big. It can accommodate 150 passengers. After the Mandatory Life Boat Drill, we head to the Fwd area of the ship and we stayed right here to watch the Miami City as we sail away. This is the Deck 12 of the Norwegian Sky. The party continues in every Deck of the cruise ship and yap, music is everywhere. It was a gloomy day and it drizzles a bit but, the fun and excitement was sky limit!

Carnival Imagination

While we were in the Norwegian Sky waiting for our schedule to sail to Bahamas, Carnival Imagination started sailing away ahead of us. This ship is a Fantasy Cruise under Carnival Corporation and PLC. It travels to Western Carribean and the Bahamas for three to four days. Just like Norwegian Sky, Carnival Imagination is also registered in Bahamas as Port of Registry.We were having a safety drill when we saw this cruise ship sailing away to the Caribbean.The guests in this cruise ship will enjoy the amenities of the following: Dynasty Lounge, Curiosity Library, Mirage and Dream Bars, Pride and Spirit Dining Rooms, Shangri La, Vittorio's Cafe and Internet, Illusions Dance Club, Pinnacle Club, Xanadu Lounge, Horizon Bar & Grill and Club O2.This cruise ship has Piano Bar, Card Room, Verandah Deck, Lido Deck with Outdoor Main Pool Area.Their Dynasty Lounge can accomodate 1,200 guests and this ship also has a Midship Lounge.

This has 10 Decks, has a 920 crews and can accomodate more than 2K guests.

On the Cruise

Today, we arrived in Great Stirrup Cay and it is the second day of our cruising to Bahamas. We had a coffee at the Garden Buffet which is located at the 11th floor on the Aft-section of the ship. And, Ron’s daughter came and we all went to the Palace Fine Dining which is located at the Mid-section of the ship. On this area, guests had to wait to be seated which is really nice. Our server is a Filipino from Cebu and most of the workforce on this ship is Filipinos. We gave him extra tip because he was a good server. If the weather permits, we will go to transfer to a tender boat and transport us to the island of GSC. Excited! But, the waves are really big and the wind blows so strong. For safety Reulations, they can cancel this trip to Great Stirrup Cay anytime though. Fingers cross!

Norwegian Sky

The daughter of my husband with her boyfriend came from Spain. They have a month vacation to the US and they already went to New York and Mississippi. They spent 3 weeks with us. We have been planning to have a family cruise so; I checked on Continental.com and found a last minute cruising to Bahamas.Of course, we booked for 4 days cruising to the Caribbean. The capacity of this cruise ship will be 2,002 with 13 Decks. 1999 was its first sail as Norwegian Sky then later, she was named Pride of Aloha and back to Norwegian Sky in 2008 up to the present. Okay, I am now excited! Wish us with a safe sailing everyone!

Floating Gambling Casino

This ship is a gambling casino. You can ride for free but, you have to play. Food is Free too. The ship will only go as far as 12 miles and stay there and you can gamble whole day. Don't get hooked though....LOL! You can find this particular ship in Orlando, Florida.
