Atlantis in Bahamas

Nassau is one of the itineraries when we cruise to Bahamas via Norwegian Sky, a Freestyle Cruising of NCL. I took the photo below while hubby and I were at the Marina Village in Atlantis. We already visited the shopping area of Atlantis and during this time, we just exploring the business establishments located at the Marina.

After we explore some areas inside the Atlantis and at the Marina, we decided to go back to the Port of Nassau via ferry boat. You should try it because it is fun. The ride is amazing, the fare is only $3/person and the scenic view is in 360 degrees gorgeous.

I took the photo above while we were on the ferry boat ride. It was a beautiful day and the water is so calm and so blue. It was a short ferry ride back to the Port of Nassau.

The Atlantis in Paradise Island

Just browsing some old photos and saw these two pictures in my favorite folder. I took the photo below while we were still on board the NCL's Norwegian Sky, a Freestyle Cruising where guests can enjoy to eat whenever and wherever they like. The sky is the limit! Anyway, the photo below is the Atlantis in Bahamas.

After we dock in the Port of Nassau Bahamas, hubby and I decided to go closer to Atlantis (see the photo above). We took a van for $5 each way per person and head to Atlantis in Paradise Island.

Atlantis is a huge resort and waterpark located in Paradise Island in the Bahamas. One tower is called Cove Atlantis and it is a 600-suite luxury hotel then, there is also a 497-room called Reef Atlantis and more. We just explore one part and went to check on their shopping area and we head to the Marina Village (picture above). Check out for more photos next time. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Festival Place at the Port of Nassau

I was browsing some photos in my PC today and saw these in the Bahamas album. I remember when we arrived Nassau via Norwegian Sky Cruise ship. It was almost sunset so; the 360 degrees view from the 11th deck was truly marvelous. I was thrilled to see the Bahamian architectural design and colorful building of Festival Place. The Port of Nassau is beautiful, clean and the water is crystal clear.

Hubby and I wanted to explore the Atlantis which we saw from the top deck but, since it was already late, we decided to stay on board and just go there the next day. Before dinner, we walk to the Festival Place and explore the nearby shops outside the port. We head back to the Festival Place, took pictures and back to the ship enjoying the hot tub and the jacuzzi on the top deck. The Entertainment crew performed a fabulous musical show plus other interesting activities so; we watched the major shows on board and had a fine dining dinner.

Inside the vibrant Festival Place was this sign on the bulletin board. Festival Place has an information center where tourist can pick up pamphlets of tourist distination in Nassau. When we went to Paradise Island, we rode the van and paid $5/person. When we went back to the Port, we took the ferry boat ride located nearby the Marina Village in Atlantis. Surprisingly, the fare was only $3/person and it was more enjoyable because the view was fantastic and the scenic view was awesome.

Anyway, here are some photos inside the Festival Place. The Bahamian culture and colourful products are visible everywhere. The people are friendly and I also noticed that some cruise ship employees on their day off came here and used the WiFi connection. It was free in fact, I was able to use it as well.

I took the photo below in one of the corners inside Festival Place. There were gigantic masks display inside ( part of their tradition and culture) because Nassau, Bahamas has the largest Junkanoo Parade. Junkanoo is a street parade with music happens in many places across The Bahamas. They have the street parades on December 26 and New Year's Day. There are also Junkanoo parades in Miami in June and Key West in October. I wish to see those parades in the future.

Festival Place has many small souvenir shops like the picture below. By this time, most of the shops were closed including the souvenir shops outside the Port. It was dinner time on board so; we head back to the ship.

Good Benefit When Working Online

Time is passing by so fast as I look at the date of this picture which was taken at Freeport Harbor in Bahamas. It's been almost a year now. Hubby said, we need to cruise again and I look forward for that moment. Next month, we will be going to Kansas City Missouri and we will travel to Branson. I heard a lot of good activities in Branson in fact, I am excited to see it for real. 3 years ago, I was hired to write about a 5-star hotel in the area. In two weeks time, I will be there.Anyway, I can travel anytime I want because I own my time and I work online. I am just enjoying the good benefits of staying at home while I work online. Freeport Harbour Grand Bahama Island

This picture was taken in October of last year when we went for a Bahamas Cruising. This is in Freeport Harbour in Grand Bahama Island, the first of the 3 islands that we visited. Freeport is a city and has grown to become the second most populous city in the Bahamas. When we arrived the harbour, we went to the terminal to find a transportation to Treasure Bay Casino and Port Lucaya Marketplace. As a tourist, there is nothing to worry about paying too much fare because the rate is printed on the brochure and the information board. Anyway, the fare on the van is $5 per person each way. From the harbour, 16 of us rode in the van and dropped us all in the casino. Hubby and I played in the slot machines in the casino and went to the marketplace as well as explore the Port Lucaya Marina. We convene in the casino lobby after 5 hours then, head back to the harbour to our cruise ship. It was fun!

Cruising to Bahamas at Affordable Price

Cruising is an expensive vacation plan and I thought it was; until I discovered that one can enjoy few days of cruising to Bahamas in less than $500. I was browsing my emails last September and one offer caught my attention. Guests can eat the delicious food in their hearts content. That's what we did!

Every hour has activities especially when the ship is sailing to its destination. In the evening, there was always an amazing production show which hubby and I attended. There's singing, dancing, Broadway shows and comedy shows throughout the cruise.

When we arrived Freeport, we took a van which cost $5 a person each way. We went to Port Lucaya Marketplace and take our time enjoying the gorgeous beach. Nassau is the best for me because I went shopping inside Atlantis and we hang out at the Marina. We even take a ferry boat ride for $3 a person. It was affordable isn't it?

My First Visit in Nassau Bahamas

The capital and the largest city of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas is Nassau. This place is also the commercial centre of Bahamas and considered as the business district. According to the 2010 census, Nassau has a population of at least 250K and is on the island of New Providence. Did you know that Nassau was considered historically to be a stronghold of pirates? That's what I heard ... most people say that.Isn't this beautiful? Nassau has an attractive harbor right? Most of the buildings are colorful, colonial architecture are very much visible, and this port is really busy. This place has tropical climate and Nassau is a popular tourist destination in Bahamas.

From the ship, I could tell that New Providence is relatively flat and a low-lying land intersected by low ridges. The gigantic and beautiful building that you see in the picture above is The Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island. It's so magnifiscent that upon arrival on the port, tourists will be drawn to visit that place first and foremost. The resort has 6,000 Bahamian employees...such gigantic business huh?

We took a van and head to Atlantis and the fare is only $5/person. We stroll for few hours, shop a lil bit, have a coffee at starbucks, used the wifi in nearby hotels, and we were back to the port of Nassau on the ferry ride that costs only $3. Oh I enjoyed the ferry ride best! The view is spectacular and the Atlantis is truly grand! Planning to cruise? Visit Bahamas. You will enjoy it!

Internet Connection while on the Cruise

When I booked our cruise to Bahamas, it dawned on me that I can't use the Internet at cheaper price. I worked online so; 4 days of using my USB connect at International rate could be very expensive. But, I brought my USB connect for emergency use. I also have my handy netbook and laptop and decided to turn off my smart phone once we sail away from Miami.We are on board the freestyle Norwegian Sky cruise ship, an NCL company. I inquired about their Internet connection and here's the pricing plan:

Plan 1: 60 minutes, it's $24
Plan 2: 30 minutes, $16.50
Plan 3: Pay as you go for $0.75/minute

It's not bad at all plus, a one time activation fee of $3.95. So, I signed up for plan 1. I used my laptop and there's few location on the ship where WiFi is accessible (Decks 6,7 and 11 only). I used my time wisely like checking my emails and it was a stress free log in. I can log out anytime and save my minutes for my next usage.

Anyway, the above picture is Festival Place at Nassau Port in Bahamas. If you need more time to use the Internet, this area has Wi-Fi and the good news? You can use it for FREE and it's really fast! I have seen so many tourists take advantage of the FREE Wi-Fi connection at Festival Place. You can even use Skype with no problem at all. If you visit other resorts in the area, they have Wi-Fi too and free access for the public. Now, you shouldn't be worry. Enjoy your cruising.

Inside the Festival Place at Nassau Bahamas

We were excited when we arrived early in Nassau, Bahamas that day. On board the Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship, I took these pictures on the 5th deck watching the activities of people at the port area. It was a glorious day and I found out that in terms of land area, Nassau (79.9 s mi) is smaller than Camiguin Island (91.9 sq mi) in the Philippines! The 360 scenic view at the Port of Nassau was truly gorgeous and breathtaking. The huge building at the far end is the world class and luxury resort known as Atlantis.The colorful Bahamian building that you see here is the Festival Place at the Port of Nassau. This is the welcome center where every questions of the tourists will be answered with the help of the travel guide booklet provided at the information area.
The place is clean and every corner shows the Bahamian culture through their decoration and accessories.
There were stalls displaying various Bahamian products which are very affordable.
I saw this space at the heart of Festival Place, looks like a stage with musical instruments on it decorated in happy and colorful Bahamian decors. Tourists stopped by and took a picture for souvenirs. On this spot, tourists and Filipino employees from the ship gathered here to take advantage of the FREE WiFi connection. I used it and the speed was pretty fast!
This information board is truly the best! Tourists will know the rates to a certain destination in the island of Nassau. We took the van to Paradise Island for $4 each, not bad huh? On our way back, we took the boat ride for $3/person.
There were affordable food display inside the Festival Place but, their customers were mostly locals. There is a bathroom and my husband told me it was very clean.
I would love to come to Nassau again and explore another destination of this island. If you think the WiFi rate on the ship is ridiculous, this place is heaven for providing a FREE Wifi for everyone.

Festival Place at Nassau Bahamas

We were on board the Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship for 4-days and as we approached the Port of Nassau Bahamas, we were excited to finally explore the beach, the Atlantis and the surrounding areas near it. We noticed this colorful building which is so vibrant showing the Bahamian architectural design, the Festival Place. I took these pictures from the ship before we went down to explore Nassau.This building is the Welcome Center in Nassau Port. When we went to Festival Place, the first thing I noticed was the blue and clean water as we walked towards the building. Then I was amazed to find that the whole area got is a WiFi zone. Inside, there were display of Bahamian souvenirs and crafts. We stayed a bit longer inside Festival Place and look around. Then, went across the Port and there were display of native products on the sidewalk. As you can see, the place is really clean. Going around Nassau, you can choose between a van or a motorcycle.We chose the van with $5/person fare and when we go back, we took a boat ride that cost only $3. Anyway, Festival Place is a good spot to use the FREE wi-fi in the area. This place is a delightful area especially for the employees of the Norwegian Sky because they can access the FREE Wi-Fi. I had a good time! Bahamas is truly a paradise island and YOU should find a schedule to visit this place.

Port Lucaya Marina

If I am rich, Bahamas would be one of the places that I would visit frequently. About three weeks ago, we had four days cruising thru Norwegian Sky with Bahamas as the destination. I always wanted to see Bahamas and so far, I enjoyed the my first cruising. I would definitely go back to the island. We had a full day at Freeport, Bahamas and we went to their International Market. Nearby is the Marina where tourist can rent a boat for island hopping or do the snorkeling. Hubby and I went to the Port Lucaya Marina just back of the Port Lucaya Marketplace at Freeport, Bahamas. It was still 9 AM so; the store in the marketplace was still not busy.Hubby and I decided to just walk around the place. We came out to the big hotel of Flamingo and when we were there, we were able to access their Wi-Fi. The hotel is so grand and the beach front was awesome! It was raining so, I did not bother to take pictures.
There were beaches in the area but to access, one should pay. If you love the beach, you should pay and you will be amazed of the view and the water. Gezzz...the water is truly blue and so clean!
We went back to the Port Lucaya Marketplace and I bought my souvenirs. By noontime, the marketpalce was jampacked with tourists but, it was still pouring rain. Hubby and I decided to stay inside the Treasure Bay Casino and just hang out until 2PM. We wanted to go back to ship to enjoy the indoor activities.

Port Lucaya marketplace is interesting and their products were affordable. From the cruiseship to this port, we pay $10/person (back and forth) which is not bad at all. Anyway, I hope to have more cruising in the future and would love to go back to Bahamas.

Norwegian Sky

The daughter of my husband with her boyfriend came from Spain. They have a month vacation to the US and they already went to New York and Mississippi. They spent 3 weeks with us. We have been planning to have a family cruise so; I checked on Continental.com and found a last minute cruising to Bahamas.Of course, we booked for 4 days cruising to the Caribbean. The capacity of this cruise ship will be 2,002 with 13 Decks. 1999 was its first sail as Norwegian Sky then later, she was named Pride of Aloha and back to Norwegian Sky in 2008 up to the present. Okay, I am now excited! Wish us with a safe sailing everyone!
