Health Benefits of Watermelon

The heat of summer is here and my craving for watermelon is very obvious to my hubby when I bought an eight pound of this thirst-quencher fruit. This is one of my favorite fruits aside from mango of course. I am compelled to refresh my memory about the health benefits of watermelon. Here it goes:
  • A good source of Vitamin C.
  • A good source of Vitamin A too.
  • A good anti-oxidant which neutralized free radicals,
  • A good source of lycopene that lowers the risk of cancer.
  • A good source of Vitamin B6 and B1 (Potassium and Magnesium).
  • It has no fat and no cholesterol.
  • It contains 48 calories.
  • High in citrulline, an amino acid which is used in the urea cycle to make nitric oxide which relaxes blood vessels.
  • It lowers high blood pressure.
  • It prevents erectile dysfunction. Would you believe this? They say, it is the exterior rind that has this benefit.
  • Because of Arginine(amino acid), watermelon improves insulin sensitivity in obese type 2 diabetic patients with insulin resistance.

Stem Cells: Life Saver

Who would want to get sick? Nobody! We all strive to live healthy, eat nutritious food, carefully choose a balanced diet, do exercise but, we are still prone to diseases. Our friend John suffered from Dementia. I like him because he treated me like his daughter. Every Tuesday, we always had a schedule for breakfast with him and his wife. And for each passing week, I noticed his declining memory and behavior. Dementia is a group of symptoms caused by gradual death of brain cells. The cerebral cortex which is part of the brain and is responsible for thoughts, memories and actions will degenerate. It was really hard to see him so sick with this kind of disease because he was only 58 years old. During conversation, he would stop and think what he just said. This disease is progressive and there is no cure yet. The process of introducing new cells into a tissue to treat a disease can be a life saver. According to C'Elle Testimonials, stem cells can treat diseases such as Heart Disease, Stroke, Breast Cancer and Diabetes. I just hope that by using stem cells, therapeutic developments may lead to the treatment of Dementia. If you are interested to know more about stem cells, you can Order C'elle Now and avail the Special Price at $499 Annual Plan.

Green Philippine Passport : A Problem ?

It has been a long time that I did not update my Free Account in Visa Journey so, I made a visit few days ago and update my time line. I stayed in that site most of the time for almost three years sharing what I knew about processing K1 Visa. In that site, we help each other and we share and exchange information for free. My 129-F was approved 4 months and my green card was approved less than 3 months. No lawyers. I made friends and some of them I keep in touch with from time to time.

Two days ago, one of my friends from that Website (Elena) asked me about my passport because she was worried with hers. She had "Green Philippine Passport" and she will be returning to the Philippines this October. She was aware of the passport advisory which was passed on through email that "green passport" will be valid only up to January 2010.

If you have the same problem, just click this link to ease your worries away: FALSE INFORMATION ON PASSPORTS BEING CIRCULATED

Take note:
  • The information is false.
  • Green Passport will be honored as a bonafide travel document until it expires.
  • They advised that holders of non-machine readable passports should be replace to avoid future inconvenience.
  • This is not mandatory.
  • They advise all Filipinos to keep your documents in order.
  • And check the validity of your passport before booking any travels.
I hope you read the link for thorough information about the subject.

Dreaming A Vacation At Branson

When our family share about vacation experiences, my father-in-law would bragged about his vacation at Branson, Missouri. He talks about the endless activities, the fantastic scenery and how he enjoyed the river banks and restaurants at Branson. His wife was having a good time shopping in the boutiques and shops. They have a good time watching the live shows in this awesome place.

From daybreak to sundown, there are so many things to do at Branson which is known to be the entertainment capital of Midwest. When the evening comes, live shows continue to entertain the guests. I told my husband that we will really go there and stay either at Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing or Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel. We are still eyeing on the prices for this summer though. We already knew that the driving distance is almost 12 hours from here to Branson, Missouri so it is like going from here to Orlando.

I am so interested to see the National Kid’s Fest at Silver Dollar City and witness the 10th Annual Clown Jam. It would be exciting to experience these wonderful attractions. Our cousin Johnny and his wife went to Branson last Monday just in time for the opening of National Kid's Fest on Saturday, June 6.

They invited us to go with them in a convoy but since the event will be up to August 9, we are still good to go any time. Our plan is to stay there for three days and see the museums and just enjoy the live entertainment whichever are available. If we can visit up to September 30, we can get the package of Hilton Visa Summer Savings. What a good deal indeed.

Hurricane Season Is Kicking In

This is the old bridge of Biloxi and Ocean Springs- Mississippi, a very frightening sight after hurricane Katrina. June to November is Hurricane Season here in the US. Those who live nearby the Coast knows how critical these months are. When I was in Florida last year, I was thankful that Orlando was not hit hard but, we were on our way to Miami when Hurricane Fay made its landfall. It was so scary. Then, there was Hurricane Gustav which made its landfall here in Mississippi. In fact, my father-in-law evacuate to a safer place in Alabama. The people here are not worried maybe because they are used to this season and mostly they are prepared.

Vegetable 'Lil Garden

I have a lil vegetable garden at the side of our house. We have few tomatoes and as you can see, it started to bear one.It was so windy earlier and since we live nearby the beach, the sand was blown up this area.It is nice to see them growing since I started planting them with seeds. I hope it will grow well.I have beets, zuchini, squash, watermelon and cantaloupe. I am actually experimenting the soil and the location. So far, it is only the tomatoes that bear fruits. Hmmmm.
Another tomato in a pot. This is like my nursery area. These are beets and when they are ready to transfer, I will plant them in another area. These are carrots. I saw three rabbits behind the bushes. I guess I will have problems in the future LOL. I will replant these when its ready to transfer.

Dreaming The Manta Ride

May 2009 is the most awaited opening Manta, the only flying roller coaster of its kind in the world. This attraction can be found only at Sea World in Orlando, Florida. Manta is an exciting ride because the 32 riders will experience an up close animal encounter with a head-first, face-down ride. I am not really crazy with roller coaster rides but with Manta, I would not missed it. I want to experience the thrill of gliding and flying like a giant ray. It will be an adventure ride worth dreaming for.

Garden Update

I know, I keep procrastinating the posting of the latest update of my garden. But, here's the picture now. Not much but, it is blooming. I turned off my cbox in here because there are fake sites that I clicked to visit. My PC hang and pop-up came up. Was it a virus infected site? I do not know. That's what happen before when my PC refuse to open and I have to let an IT fixed it. Much as I wanted to read your messages but, I have to take precautionary measure. Anyway, enjoy the pictures below.
