Cory Aquino: Mother of Philippine Democracy

I am a Filipino and even if I am 9,000 miles away from home, having the internet access makes me feel like I am Home. My time was glued on TV. I watched the latest news especially about the passing of Cory Aquino, the former and most loved President of the Philippines.

I hope we will be inspired with the legacy she left behind. Come to think of it, though she was born with a golden spoon, she remains humble and lives a life of simplicity. She choosed to become a wife and a mother but, fate leads her to Presidency. The saddest moment of her life was probably the murder of her husband. Despite of that incident, she showed strength and hope. A woman is vulnerable yet, she stand Firm and accepted the challenge of leading the nation to Democracy.

She was the Mother of Democracy. The People were inspired to Fight for Freedom and Justice. I was in High School and I saw in my two eyes how our school, our church and our local government join the People Power. Magkaisa is the favorite song at that time. The song was sung by Verna Liza and composed by Sen. Vicente Sotto. The song has the message of hope and inspiration. Thank you Madam President for showing us to have a prayerful heart, compassion to the needy, love of family and love of country. Rest in Peace and we love you.
