A Night Stay at Motel 6 at St Robert, Missouri

Our travel and road trip for this year ended last October when we traveled to Missouri as far as Kansas City. It was only a week but, we crossed 6 states: Florida, Georgia, Tennesse, Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri. It was fun and exciting travel and since we had no hotel reservations, we only stopped when we were tired and ready to hit the bed. One of the unexpected places that we checked in was this Motel 6. We had to find a place to sleep for it was already 11:30 at night so; we saw this along the highway. It was our first time to sleep in a motel 6 but, this place is not bad at all. It was newly renovated, 3-storey, clean and nearby to restaurants. The location is just perfect.

What matters for me is the cleanliness and the sheets should smell good. The staffs are friendly and courteous. The price was a bit high for this type of motel/hotel but, we sleep good for the night. Victoria Soto: A Teacher's Sacrifice

Young, vibrant, pretty and full of life, she loves the color green, she likes snow and loves Christmas. According to the news, Victoria Soto said to the children before she was shot, "To all my students, I love you."

Who would ever forget this iconic photo? The horrific and unspeakable tragedy happened last Friday in Newtown, Connecticut will forever leaves a painful mark in our hearts and minds. Believe it or not, I was crying the whole time watching the news unfolded. Seeing her talking to the police officer crying and clasping her hands ... she was praying and hoping ... with tearful eyes, I was  praying as well. If it was her child, I was hoping that she will be re-united. That her day will end up alright.

 

The next day, I learned from the news that she was there looking for her sister who is a first grade teacher. Her sister is Victoria Soto and she died as a hero protecting her students from the evil in disguise.  Victoria Soto saves some innocent lives that day.

We may never know the real reason why this horrible tragedy happen in a school ... in a quiet neighborhood of good and descent people. We may seek answers as to the why and how but, will never find the truth because the killer is dead.

 

This tragic incident left us with complex issues to resolve. Are we going to blame the mother who collected high powered guns? Is this a mental issue? Do we need to polish gun laws control? Do we need to blame the violent video games in the market today? Do we need to improve the security system in the school? Is there a need to hire a security guard or police officer on standby in the school?

 

This tragic event is truly complex. Before we blame this to anyone, let us examine ourselves first. Am I a good parent? Did I talk to my child lately?

Love your children and if they need help, do not hesitate to ask help.

Apple iPod Touch 5th Gen: Brilliant Gadget

I bought an Apple iPod Touch awhile back and I did not enjoy using it so; I gave it to my brother. Besides, I have an iPad2 already so; I can do so much more with it such as music download and Social Media purposes. I don't miss it a bit! Now, iPod Touch comes up with 5th Generation and I am contemplating to buy or not. What caught my attention is the available color aside from it's brilliance of course. I prefer yellow and pink ... I was hoping to get a yellow-green or peach but, they don't have it.

Right now, Apple iPod Touch 5th Gen is on sale in most stores in the US ... like $20 lower if I buy it in Apple.com. The good thing if I buy it in Apple, I will get free engraving and free shipping until December 21. During Black Friday, Apple.com offers discount but, I was hesitant to order at that time. Too bad, if I order this gadget anytime this week, I will not get any discount. Come what may ... I might or I may not buy it.

The Signature Deep Dish Dutch Apple Pie with Caramel Sauce is a beautiful pie already so; I simply customized it by adding raisins to give a texture on every bite. The caramel sauce is sweet but not overpowering. You should try it.

Amish Store:Farm Oaks Produce Near Keytesville Missouri

When hubby and I traveled to Missouri, we noticed that they have road signs of buggy. It is a common road sign in Amish country. I was in great awe upon seeing the sign because it would mean, I can now see a real Amish (face-to-face). Few years back, I saw a movie about Amish and I admire their way of life. My brother-in-law told us about the Amish store in nearby town. The picture below is the first Amish Store that I ever went to.

Amish people are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology. They only marry the person within the faith. Ordnung is the rule of their church and must be observed by every member. The rules cover most aspects of day-to-day living such as limitations on the use of power-line electricity, telephones and automobiles as well as clothing. Most members do not accept government assistance such as Social Security. They have their own church, their own school and their own way of life.

Before we arrived the home of my brother-in-law, hubby and I were lost. We drove to a dirt road and we can't find our way. We were lost in the middle of nowhere. We saw plain houses with buggy parked outside their property. We don't see anybody .... not a single soul. We drove around the area ( really lost our way) for 45 minutes or so. Then, we saw a car finally... and we asked for direction to Lake Nihai in Keytesville where my brother in-law lives.

Anyway, back to Amish Store … hubby bought some cheeses. My sisters-in-law bought some Amish baked foods and chips while I have caramel popcorn. The store is full and most of their products and produce are from the Amish community.  The  salesladies were young Amish and they were wearing their traditional clothing. They were pretty and friendly. I enjoyed my little shopping in the Amish store.

Thoughts on Christmas

How are you? Yesterday, hubby and I did some errands. We went to the mall and did some shopping for the front yard and the gazebo Christmas ornaments. I found a musical ornament and hubby bought a candy cane decor. It's 19 days before Christmas but, we are still adding Christmas decoration every day. We are enjoying the spirit of Christmas. How about you? I bet, you feel the same way too huh?

Anyway, we had lunch at Longhorn Steak House and as we head home, I took a picture of this beautiful sunset. Nature is amazing! We had a nice weather here in Florida but, halfway around the globe, the weather has brought so much pain and anguish to hundreds of families who lost members of their family. A lot of families in the Philippines lost their homes from the flashflood brought by Storm Pablo (Bopha). As I was staring at the sunset, my thought goes out to the victims and survivors of the flashflood in the Philippines. This Christmas, please ... let us not forget them. Christmas is giving. If there is a way that you can help them, please do so. Most of all, say a little prayer for the survivors ... that they may find strength amidst all these trials.

Lovely and Colorful Mums

Aren't they gorgeous? These type of plants in a nice planter would have cost much here in Florida but, in Missouri, this is only $14. A month ago, hubby and I had a very exciting one week road trip. The farthest we traveled was Kansas Missouri. When we were in the town of Marceline, we stopped by the Dreaming Tree of Walt Disney. Stayed for two nights by this awesome place in Lake Nehai in Keytesville. Nearby these places is Brooksfield  where the Amish Store is located. They have these beautiful mums displayed outside their store. I really wanted to see a real Amish and while we were there, two young and pretty Amish salesladies were there manning the store. Missouri is a gorgeous state with cool weather too since we went there in October, a sweater and boots would be a comfy attire to wear.

I took several photos of these lovely and colorful mums ... such pretty flowers huh? They are such delightful to the eyes. Do you have mums in your garden? I have two and I hope it will survive for next year. Thanks for stopping by.

My Mug Collection: Gateway Arch

I always like to collect mugs with unique design, fascinating shapes and interesting color-combination. I don't usually just buy for a keepsake but, I always look for something different to bring home with me. We visited the Gateway Arch in Saint Louis, Missouri a month ago and I wander inside the Museum Store. I was looking to buy a mug with Gateway Arch name on it and I found this.

This mug is glossy, has the Gateway Arch skyline print and worth $8.95 only (cheaper than Disney mugs). I bought it inside the Museum Store in Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. It is worth the money for it is durable and the shape is like an oval which is not the typical mug that we often see in the souvenir store. This mug is the latest addition of my collection and I am a happy camper.

Sliced Swiss Cheese

Just the other day, I posted a picture of a glass of red wine, prosciutto, sliced strawberry and cheese, my Italian snacks for the day. Though I am not a big fan of eating cheese, there are certain types of cheeses that I craved for once in a while. When it comes to snacking a swiss burger, I prefer the sliced swiss cheese. When I was working in a gaming establishment in Mississippi, we have a personal chef in our break room. We were served with free hot lunches. Oh I miss that. When the chef saw me in queue, she knew that I want more cheese in my sandwich. She even gave me a lecture on what type of cheeses is best for certain foods. We have variety of cheeses to choose from. Half of it, I can't even remember LOL. Swiss cheese is easy to recall because it became my favorite from then on.

Women's Deluxe Hooded Gown Costume

Few weeks ago, I received this beautiful costume for free. You read it right! I was given the opportunity to choose one costume that I like in exchange of an honest review. That's an easy task. You know why? From shipping, packaging, and quality of the product, I am very satisfied. I was so thrilled when I put it on and the fit is just perfect. I can't control my excitement when I open the package because the costume is beautiful and the color combination is perfect for Halloween.

The costume is a floor length black robe with red accents. It is actually long for my height but, I did alter the seams. The robe has an attached black hood with red lining and it has long tight black sleeves that extended at the elbow and into giant bells. It is very comfortable to wear and it fits well on me.

The long sleeves have red lining and the color adds an extra flair that is why I said, it is intriguing. The red center panel of this costume will definitely makes a woman look sexy because of the style. It shows the body curves especially when the lace is tightened.

When I posted this picture in my Facebook, a friend says I am the mistress of darkness, LOL. Well, this costume is versatile indeed because this could be a vampire costume, a witch or any other sexy beast that you want to pretend and it all depends on you. Marceline Missouri: Walt Disney's Boyhood Town

We are supposed to visit Hannibal, Missouri which is the boyhood town of Mark Twain. We ran out of time and I was so disappointed. While looking for a German Restaurant in the area, my sister-in-law pointed the clock and the street sign which says Main Street USA. I asked why there are Disney signs in this town? Then, I was told and just knew that Marceline, Missouri is the boyhood town of Walt Disney. This town has influenced him a lot in fact; I saw his barn and his Dreaming Tree. The picture below is the Main Street USA in Marceline Missouri, the inspiration of Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom. Amazing! This road trip is very interesting. I am glad we came here in Marceline.

As a blogger, one of the activities that I did this month was sending a pitch letter to companies. I made 15 pitch letters and all companies replied positive. I was overwhelmed! First product that arrived on our doorstep was from Zoobies.com and boy, I am like a child. I was thrilled and loving their stuff toy. What was surprising for me was their stuff toys have a dual purpose. It is a toy and a blanket. Moms and dads, you should get this toy for your children. See the face of my niece? I am so glad that I send Lily to her because look at that angelic face, I can almost hear her giggling and laughing. You bring so much joy Lily the ladybug (wink).

Halloween Costumes That You Would Love

For the sake of the Halloween Celebration this month, here are some of the Halloween Costumes that I find interesting to wear. Take your pick if you have no idea what to wear on your Halloween Party. Check out these costumes:
I went to two Halloween Parties by the neighborhood of our friend and they invited us in and was blown away by their funky costumes.

Here are some of the cutest "trick-or-treat'ers" in the neighborhood.

They were with their parents. Remember to always accompany your children when they went out for trick or treat just a safety precaution you know. Anyway, it was really fun seeing these kids in costumes.

Here are some cool costumes of pretty young ladies. If you hate make-up then, this will work for you. You don't need to buy fancy dresses if your budget is tight this year. Alter your old worn out clothing and make your own style for Halloween.
Here's more... a white and black clothing plus a little red face paint sure is a big hit in the zoombie land.

We were busy that time so; taking pictures one by one is hard work LOL. They want the treats hehehe. I have to take charge of the treats because if they take more, the ghosts might follow them home.

Some trick or treaters were still able to smile at my camera lol ... pretty.

 Now, wearing a masks is the most easiest thing to wear isn't it? No hassle of make-up and just dark clothing. The angel of death is really scary huh? I think they were less than 4 years old and their parents were assisting them because the masks kept falling hahaha. Here is another cute little face ... just a little powder on the face and he got treats as well hehehe.  Oh, the incredible hulk cannot handle his huge body hehehe. His masks fall many times and he can't see LOL.
